2016 Cobras advance to Trophy Quarterfinals

Cambridge Pythons 12 - 27 Cardiff Cobras

Due to issues with the field at Llanrumney, Cardiff travelled across the bridge to the all weather fascilities at SGS WISE in Filton, Bristol today to take on the Cambridge Pythons in the first round of the playoffs for the Division 1 National Trophy. They took the weather with them as the game was played in terrible conditions with low temperatures, strong cross winds, horizontal rain and even some hail, but that didn't stop them from putting 19 points on the Pythons in the first half, including veteran Robin Ford returning a blocked punt to the house. Cardiff added a further score in the 4th quarter, with the offensive touchdowns coming from Ross Ludlow and Carwyn Chamberlain (2) as the Cobras eventually ran out 27-12 victors.

Cardiff now expect to host the Imperial Immortals on Sunday 12th March in a quarterfinal matchup after the Immortals overcome Cobras rivals the Demons today in double overtime.
